Retirement age should be fixed to 58 years or 33 years of service whichever is earlier as in Govt job after 58 years particularly in public sector banks after 58 years employees particularly officers get fai nted/rotten and go like Kacchua Chal and thereby doing Nation loss. So young should come down and empl, oyment opportunities should be increased by this step.

Retirement age at 65 yrs of doctors may not be judicious for a India where young doctors recruitment is less as a result of gradual increasing the age of retirement from 58 to 60 ,62,65.The population is depriving to get good quality services from young to middle aged doctors in Govt sector.Apparently we are talking life expectancy increased but full fledged in-depth study may revealed country offered poor service in Govt sector including medical education. 22. Mostly people with rural background join school late & obviously they also join service late. So by the time they hardly complete 25 to 30 yrs in service they attain present superannuation age of 60yrs. Also on an average the life span of peple in India has increased due to improvement in PQL. SO my opinon is that a public servent should retire either at the completion of 35yrs of service or after attaining the age of 65 yrs, whichever is attained earlier. This will be more judicious for those with rural background. Gov’t. should think over that.

    • As number of educated unemployed in the country are roaming and requesting the government to extend retirement age to 65 years is selfish and vested nature in general. At the age of 60 – 65 years, decision making of any individual goes down or dismal. Delay or no decisions lead to collapses of smooth functioning of office and country’s progress is hampered.

Reservations in education already collapsed the education system. States are fighting for reservations in education, employment, promotions.

Government is exploring alternative sources to withdraw subsidies like gas, senior citizens railway concessions, etc.

58 years retirement is majority of government employees choice.

  32. retirement is retirement. Now it is 60 years and it should remain in the interest of children. However a sop can be given to retired already fixing the reemployment age upto 66 years, after a gap of 6 six months from the date of retirement and willing and eligible candidates can be reemployed upto 66 years, covering the gap. Now in India life expectancy is 70 years while many are drawing pension beyond 75 years.

  35. BJP govt extended the retirement age of central govt employees in view of the context it is highly expected that the government will extend the retirement age upto the age of 65 to increase the life expectancy of employees and retiral benefits of retiring employees as India is least paying nation if retirement is not extended pay the retirement benefits of 65 as retirement benefits linked to retirement age.even China is paying more than Indian employees and advance recruitment policy be adopted and our retiring employees be penalised for younger generation make India very very big where retiring community and younger generation can survive only for development of our country.

  38. Hon’ble PM,

Pls. do not heed to the requests of persons seeking extension of retirement age beyond 60 Y. How selfish citizens of the country. Shame too. The greedy do not dying even at the age of 60 Y for earning and are not bothered about highly qualified younger generation, either roaming or exiling to foreign for their livelihood. These selfish employees must be having vested interest in their respective posts/seats or most corrupt to continue to loot the public money.

In other countries, there is no reservation of posts for SCs STs or OBC, etc. Once this is gone, country will progress.

Earlier the retirement age increased from 58 to 60 Y in 1998. Over a period of time till now, employees enjoying this extended retirement period of two years for their vacations, next inning plannings, functions, illnesses, sick, hospitalisation, etc. The output given to the society is ZERO.

Retirement at 58 Years is most suitable to implement with immediate effect

Beside that one more rumors is spreading that, Modi govt. is mulling to take the decision of hike in minimum pay which is presently fixed for Rs. 18000/- , may take hike to Rs, 21000/-. Both these announcement will be made on 15th August 2018. We don’t know how far it is true and implementable .

  58. In view of the latest decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India allowing reservation in promotion also, the blocked promotions of SC/ST officers have been thrown open again. However, there are many unfortunate SC/ST officers and employees who are retiring every month without availing their due promotions on account of the blocked benefit of reservation in promotion.
To mitigate their sufferings and heal their injuries, it requested that the age of retirement of the officers and employees be raised to 62 years, so that all officers and employees may get their blocked promotions for at least 2 years. This will also be in line with the policy of the Government in which the age of retirement of College Teachers and Doctors has been raised to 65 years. This will also be in line with the decision of the BJP ruled Governments of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh enhancing the retirement age of their employees to 62 years.
This will create additional fund for the Government by way of deferred payments of post retirement benefits to the retiring employees, to handle the ongoing Developmental schemes of the Government prior to 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
It makes a fair sense to raise the retirement age of Employees to 62 years keeping in view the fact that the age of entry of general candidates in Government Jobs has been raised to 32 years and 40 years for other underprivileged candidates belonging to SC/ST categories. Also, fresh graduates now prefer to pursue higher courses before getting into jobs while waiting for long before getting a chance to apply for jobs in Government Departments and Undertakings. This will go a long way to serve social justice too, since the most benefitted classes will be the Government employees belonging to SC, BC and EBC many of who join the Government service at the age of more than 40 years after availing age concessions and who are unable to complete even 20 years of service. This makes their pension and other post retirement benefits meager. The blocked reservation in promotions have further hampered their careers which can be addressed now by raising the age of retirement to at least 62 years.
Such enhancement in the age of retirement for Employees will not hamper the job opportunities to fresher as there are heavy vacancies in Government departments at middle and top levels which will create opportunities for the freshers at entry level by promoting the eligible employees at middle level and removing the backlogs.
I trust as per reports coming in the print and electronic media that, this suggestion has already convinced you to raise the retirement age of Employees to 62 years to extend relief to SC/ST employees who unfortunately started and finished their education late and consequently joined the jobs late. And now they were denied reservations in promotion also. Needless to say that politically also it may prove a master stroke as around one crore Central Government employees and their family will back the Government firmly. However, delay in the much awaited announcement by the Central Government is resulting in their retirement on 31.08.2018. Such employees, particularly those belonging to SC/ST and OBC classes will feel deprived of their genuine claims of reservation in promotions and also enhanced service tenures.

Now, it is a big question before every one that whether enhancement of age for 62 years will be there, if yes what would be the effective date of implementation, whether it can be effective from back date? No of efficient n dedicated employees retired in recent past awaiting response from our PM saheb’s announcement on Aug, 15th. Hope it would be implemented either from April, 2018 or latter or at least from July 2018 onwards.

Raising of retirement age is a very good decision because most of the government servant joined duty above 30years old hence the government servant is served only for 30 years only.. our prime minister is increasing the retirement age from 60 to 62 years. It is very much help for government servant.

  74. the retirement age of all the government employees should be increased to 62 or 65 years. There is no age bar for these politicians. These politicians do not pay any tax. Maximum tax is being paid by the service class employees only. it was highlights of Times of India dated 23 Oc 2018 that salaried class bear tax brunt. Why there is disparity in the retirement age. The politicians should also get retired at the age of 60. Even the Consultants being appointed after retirement are also the kith and kin of higher officials. No lower class employees are being re-employed unless and untill they are having some trump card. It is requested not to vote the BJP Government in the coming elections. There is no sudhar in the last 5 years.

  79. We surprised to know that the retirement age of some states is 62 like WB, Satisgarh, MP, and so many and many professionals like educationists, Doctos, judicials, scientists have extended retirement age. states have supremacy over the centre having no rule of law when other countries have retirement age up to 65 or above having enhanced retirement benefits. Now there is need of the hour to extend the retirement age of Central govt employee at least two years or to reduce the retirement age of political leaders at part with CG employees for use of skilled labor force

  82. Retirement age should not be increased in india on the pretext of increasing of retirement age in Western countries.Rather it should be decreased to 55 or 58.Because in India conditions are altogether different. In Western countries there is no such severe unemployment issue like India.Today in india Btech/Mtech/PhD have no job opportunities that is why they are applying for the govt. posts of safai waalas.Have you heard such case in Western countries.Secondly people who are supporting increase in retirement age are such persons who want only their benefits because they do not want to loose privileges and powers given by govt. They are in fear to loose them. They have no concerns about increase in GDP, development of infrastructure etc.Thirdly if any party have came to power due to increase in retirement age then Late Vajpayee Ji have came in to power again and again. In MP and Chhattisgarh BJP have not lost recent elections. Next is the number of West Bengal. Lastly as far as possible govt. should give chance to job seekers frehers rather than retired personnel in rengagement also.

  83. You have very well mentioned today’s huge problem of unemployment in India.I am also central govt. employee. But we should not be so mean and selfish that we should think only about ourselves.Population growth rate, unemployment rate as well as industrialisation rate in Western countries are a way different than India. So they are not comparable. Retirement age should be made 55 only outstanding govt employees should be allowed to serve up to 58 to counter some effects of unemployment.Because tremendous increase in unemployment rate is going to be a disaster in coming years in India.

  84. If anyhow government {which is however not going to be happen in reality} increases retirement age to 62 then these handful of people will ask for 65. If increased to 65 they will ask for 70.If it is again increased to 70 they will ask for service till death. So these people are not going to be happy and do not bother about nation and its development rather than thinking of themselves only.
