Assam Govt hikes DA, DR by 6 per cent for its employees

The Assam Government today hiked the rate of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for its employees and pensioners by six per cent with effect from January 1 this year.

The Assam Government today hiked the rate of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for its employees and pensioners by six per cent with effect from January 1 this year.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal signed the first file enhancing the existing DA/DR by six per cent on his first day in office at the Assam Secretariat here in presence of Chief Secretary V K Pipersenia, Commissioner and Secretary, Finance Dr Ravi Kota and other senior officials.

The DA and DR arrears w.e.f. from January 1, 2016 to May 21, 2016 would be paid through bank account in a single instalment in July, said a Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) release.

Following the six per cent increase in DA/DR the state government would have to incur an additional expenditure of Rs 63 crore per month, the release said adding, it comes to around Rs 900 crore for the entire year up to February 2017.
