OROP – The PM might make the final decision, says Subramanian Swamy

“In cases of emergencies, the Prime Minister can call for a special cabinet meeting and make the decisions.”

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has stressed that the Prime Minister must immediately intervene and resolve the One Rank One Pension crisis.

OROP Protests: One More Ex-serviceman Hospitalized

Ex-servicemen have launched an indefinite fast demanding the immediate implementation of the One Rank One Pension scheme at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. On Tuesday, another protester was rushed to the hospital when his health took the turn for worse.

In order to step up the intensity of the protest, an association called the UFESM has been conducting an indefinite fast at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for the past 72 days. Retired Colonel Pushpender Singh, who was on the fast protest, fainted at the rally and was rushed to the hospital on Monday. Meanwhile, the health of another ex-serviceman, Ashok Singh Chauhan deteriorated badly and was taken to the hospital on Tuesday.

Tow more ex-Army soldiers have joined the fast. The media has speculated that the OROP scheme might be implemented this week.

Meanwhile, yesterday again Defence Minister met Prime Minister to discuss the issue and expected to announce on Friday.
