One Rank One Pension – Veterans announced July 15 as deadline for implementation

Over 25 lakh Ex-Servicemen including war widows will get immediate hike in pension through the implementation of OROP Scheme. Nearly one month, from June 15 the relay hunger strike protest is move on to the next level. They have decided to boycott all govenement functions that are held commemorate martyrs including the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war and Kargail Vijay Diwas.

More than 25 lakh veterans all over the country are hoping that their pensions will be revised from 1.4.2014 based on the 6th Pay Commission, and that pensions will be issued based on their ranks and the number of years that they had served.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has significantly said that the Central Government should implement the OROP Scheme within six weeks for all ranks of defence personnel and not just for the major generals.

And aimed at strengthening of protest, Anti Corruption crusader Anna Hazare and CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury expressed their support to implement the scheme for Ex-Servicemen.

For nearly one month, relay fasts are being conducted at New Delhiā€™s Jantar Mantar. The government keeps giving vague assurances that OROP will be implemented, but the IESM demand a definite date by which OROP would be implemented.
