News Reader under Temporary Suspension for Mispronouncing Jinping’s Name
New Delhi: he Doordarshan newsreader who mispronounced the name of the Chinese President Xi Jinping as ‘Eleven Jinping’ has been temporarily suspended from duty.
Doordarshan is a Central Government run television broadcast channel. Last Wednesday, a young newsreader had read out the Chinese President’s name as President ‘Eleven Jinping’, instead of ‘Xi Jinping’. She went on to repeat the mispronunciation a number of times. She had mistaken Xi as the Roman numeral eleven. As a result, she is under temporary suspension now.
