Prime Minister Shri Modi has fulfilled his commitment and approved OROP for Armed Forces personnel. Ministry of Defence will soon issue detailed Government Order.”
Highlights of the scheme:
The scheme of One Rank One Pesnion will be effective from 1.7.2014.
Defence personnel who voluntarily retire will not be covered under the OROP scheme.
The pension will be fixed on the basis of 2013 calender year.
In futurre, the pension will be re-fixed every five years.
Arrears will be paid in four half-yearly installments. All widows, including war widows, will be paid arrears in one installment.
The estimated cost of OROP implementation to the exchequer would be Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000 crore. Expenditure on arrears would be between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 12,000 crore.
