First Time in the History of the Nation Meritorius Students of CBSE Felicitated

CBSE Achievers in the Field of Academics, Sports and Science Honoured

The Union Human Resource Development Minister Smt. Smriti Irani today felicitated CBSE achievers in the field of academics, sports and science.

Keeping in view the fact that the students who have excelled in Academics, Sports and Science are great assets to our nation, the Centre Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decided to invite all meritorious students to Delhi for giving an insight into the rich cultural heritage of India by organizing three days event involving a Heritage Walk, Preparation of an E-Book (Hamari Dharohar & Hamara Sapana), Participation in the speech of the Hon’ble Prime Minister at Red Fort.

Students along with their parents were invited which included – 0.1% students from every subject with declared parental income less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum (877 students); top students who were part of 24 teams of Science exhibition – 2013 (48 students); students who excelled in CBSE Sports Competitions-2013 (149 students).

The awardees were from twenty states across the country belonging to various disciplines like, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Carrom, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kho-Kho, Rope Skipping, Skating, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Vollyball, Yoga, and Aerobics. Each students was given a message personally signed by the Prime Minister of India.

In all 1074 students were invited. Since most of them have joined different under-graduate courses at different universities/institutes, the Board received confirmation from 515 students – 404 from Academics, 95 from Sports, 16 from Science Exhibition.
