6% DA hike for CG Employees – To be decided at the Cabinet Meeting

The Dearness Allowance for Central Government employees is likely to be raised by 6% from 01.01.2015 onwards.

Central Government employees are given dearness allowances twice a year – in January and July. Last year’s second instalment, of 7%, was decided at the Cabinet Committee meeting, which was held in the month of September.

Based on the AICPIN data for the past six months, as per the 6th Pay Commission had recommended that a DA of 6% be given. Announcements in this regard are expected during the Central Cabinet meeting next month.

With this, the dearness allowance has increased form 107% to 113%. This shall be calculated as on January 1. The hike shall benefit about 30 lakh employees and 20 lakh pensioners all over the country.

In the month of March, along with the revised dearness allowance, they will also be given the arrear of January and February.
