No. I/5(g)/Part V
Dated: 17/11/2015
The Secretary (E),
Railway Board,
New Delhi
Dear Sir,
Sub: Denial of family planning allowance to the former defence forces personnel employed in Railways-reg.
NFIR brings to the notice of Railway Board that the Defence forces personnel were granted Family Planning Allowance while serving in the Service/Defence forces. On their employment in Railways, they are denied family planning allowance.
In this connection, Federation desires to state that Defence forces personnel are part of Central Government services and discontinuance of the family planning allowance when they joined as Railway employee is therefore unjustified.
NFIR, therefore, requests the Railway Board to consider and issue suitable instructions to Zonal railways etc., to allow payment of family planning allowance to those Railway employees who got the said allowance while serving as Armed forces personnel. A copy of instructions may be endorsed to the Federation.
Yours faithfully,
