Biometric Cards to Central Government Employees

The Secretary of Ministry of Information and technology, Ram Keshav Sharma has said that before the end of this month, biometric cards shall be issued to all Central Government employees. Their entry and exit at workplace shall henceforth be marked through these cards.

In his statement issued in New Delhi yesterday, Sharma said: Aadhaar-like biometric time card shall be given to Central Government employees all over the country before the end of this month. Employees can now verify their attendance records on www.attendence.gov.in. Attendance records will be controlled from now onwards from a centralized regulatory agency. At the time of stepping into the office, Central Government employees will have to place their thumb on the biometric scanning device to record their time of arrival. This makes it possible to find out if the employee comes to office on time. Currently, there are 1816 biometric devices installed in central government offices all over the country. 43,000 employees register their entry and exit through these devices.
